Looking to the Future
As a snowbird who did not cross the border this past winter, I was reminded every day why I go south. Not only is the game I love to play, played there, but as someone who dislikes the cold weather, I want to spend more time in the sun and heat having coffee with old friends. What should have been the 2020-2021 winter shuffleboard season would now have ended. But unfortunately, Covid-19 made it a memorable and hopefully forgettable season.
Despite this, now is the time to turn the corner. While we may never to able to fully get back to the way things were before February 2020, there are many positive indicators saying that the future is looking good, and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Furthermore, what we have is a team involved in managing and organizing District IV that believes we are going to play the game we all love come next fall.
As you will see from the tournament listed on our website that we have established a schedule of 15 tournaments in the District starting November 2021. In addition, we are committed to working with the league presidents and the team captains to get the leagues up and running again.
Have a great and safe summer. I look forward to seeing all our members back on the courts and shuffling come next fall.
